Knowles launches two new automotive-grade MEMS microphones

     Knowles announced the launch of two new SiSonic MEMS microphones for automotive applications: SPH1878 and SPH9855. These two MEMS microphones are designed to meet the automotive market's growing demand for hands-free calling, advanced voice assistance, and in-car noise cancellation for increased ride comfort.

     The introduction of these two MEMS microphones marks Knowles' further expansion into the automotive market based on its industry-leading standards of high quality and innovation. These MEMS microphones meet the AEC-Q100/103 certification requirements established by the Automotive Electronics Council. The organization aims to set standards for highly reliable, high-quality electronic components for automotive applications in harsh environments.

     The SPH1878 has an analog (single-ended and differential) interface, while the SPH9855 has a digital PDM interface. These two MEMS microphones are designed for beamforming applications and are compatible with European eCall communication systems. Key features include low phase distortion for excellent noise cancellation performance, high dynamic range for enhanced call sound quality, operating temperature range for automotive applications, and improved manufacturing stability and traceability.
