Linear LED drivers provide PWM and analog dimming control

     The diode merge AL5871Q 55V Linear LED Driver, now available from Mouser, is an automotive grade single channel linear LED driver with PWM and analog dimming control. This LED driver can drive up to 750mA and the LED current is controlled by a low power reference resistor connected to the REF pin.

     Linear LED drivers accurately adjust LED current to ±4%, with excellent PWM and analog dimming performance. If the device cannot detect the PWM signal, it will automatically trigger standby mode to save power. This linear LED driver monitors the temperature and reduces the LED current when the chip temperature exceeds the threshold temperature. Input UVLO, LED series on/short circuit protection, and overtemperature protection (OTP) are designed for automotive applications to improve system robustness.

     The FAULTB pin is pulled down if any protection is triggered. The device comes in a TSSOP-16EP (Type DX) package that provides constant current to a single LED string with one-fault full functionality. Typical applications include vehicle exterior lighting - blind spot detection indicators, charging entrances and doorknobs; Rear light - central high mounted stop light and side sign; Car interior lighting - overhead lights, reading lights.
