Littelfuse Corporation, a global leader in circuit protection, announced the launch of two new families of its widely used NANO2 subminiature fuses, both of which provide surge tolerance and circuit protection for downstream components under overload conditions. Both have highly compact surface mount packages that provide a high degree of design flexibility for space-constrained applications.

Both have highly compact surface mount packages that provide a high degree of design flexibility for space-constrained applications. SMT design enables higher mount speeds and increased production during product manufacturing. Measuring just 1206(3.15x1.5 mm), the 470 Series fuse is the smallest 125VAC rated surface-mount fuse in Littelfuse products and is primarily used for primary circuit protection in compact applications with high AC voltage requirements, with outstanding performance parameters including high breaking capability and unmatched I2t values.

 

     The 476 Series is a set of surface-mount fuses with a 250VAC rating in compact size 2410(6.10 mm x 2.69 mm), which is the smallest SMT fuse at this high voltage rating and, similar to the 470 series, is designed for primary circuit protection in compact devices with high voltage requirements. The 476 Series can operate at extreme temperatures without significant impact on rated current. It has the highest rated current value at rated voltage, up to 5A at 250V, while the current market products can only reach 2A. Typical applications for the 470 and 476 series include LED lighting, LCD/LED TVS, white goods (major household appliances), laptops/PCS, and power supplies.

 

     Daniel Wang, Littelfuse 470 and 476 Series product line manager, said: "The 470 series meets the US Energy Star ® surge immunity requirements (only 1.5A or higher) and can operate at 125°C, so it is ideal for LED lighting applications. After installation, it withstands the surge from the AC power input line and keeps the lighting unit in continuous operation, and the 476 Series meets the international IEC 61000-4-2 surge immunity test requirements (rated current only 3A or higher) for most LED lighting applications. And there are full/combined cut-out ratings available for most high-voltage applications."
