Littelfuse grid driver evaluation platform makes SIC power conversion more efficient and faster

     Littelfuse announced the launch of the grid driver evaluation platform (GDEV). The new evaluation platform can help designers evaluate other peripheral components such as silicon carbide MOSFETs, silicon carbide schottky diodes, and gate driver circuits, so that they can better understand how silicon carbide technology plays a role in converter applications under continuous operating conditions

     Unlike most other SiC evaluation platforms, GDEV provides quick connect plug pin terminals to quickly and consistently compare different grid driver circuits. The GDEV supports 800 V DC link input voltages and switching frequencies up to 200 kHz.

     Corey Deyalsingh, power control director of Littelfuse, said: "The grid driver evaluation platform (GDEV) is an important expansion of silicon carbide technology product portfolio, because silicon carbide is still a relatively new technology, and there are still some unknowns about its operating characteristics under various conditions. "GDEV can help engineers understand the working characteristics of silicon carbide devices. By using this evaluation platform, designers will be able to better understand the incredible energy saving opportunities brought about by silicon carbide technology. With this knowledge, we expect designers will be more likely to incorporate silicon carbide into their future designs."
