Low power stereo audio codec

The Texas Instruments TLV320AIC3104-Q1 Low power stereo audio codec features a stereo headphone amplifier as well as multiple inputs and outputs that can be programmed in either single-ended or fully differential configurations. The device has extensive register-based power control capabilities that enable stereo 48kHz DAC playback as low as 14mW via a 3.3V analog power supply, making it ideal for automotive audio applications in dashboards and audio host systems.

The recording path of the TLV320AIC3104-Q1 includes integrated microphone bias, digitally controlled stereo microphone preamplifiers and automatic gain control (AGC) with hybrid/multiplexer capabilities in multiple analog inputs. A programmable filter is provided during recording to eliminate audible noise in noisy and unpredictable environments, such as when an emergency call system is active. The playback path includes MIX/MUX functionality (from stereo DAC and selected inputs, via programmable volume control to all outputs).

Texas Instruments TLV320AIC3104-Q1 contains four high-power output drivers and two fully differential output drivers. These high-power output drivers are capable of driving a variety of load configurations, including up to four channel single-ended 16-ω earphones (using AC coupling capacitors) or stereo 16-ω earphones (using capacitor free output configurations). With these parameters, the TLV320AIC3104-Q1 can be used as an interface between the MCU and speaker amplifiers (e.g. TPA3111D1-Q1) in various audio applications in the infotainment and dashboard fields.
