MaxLinear's XR7920x 40 V power module features proprietary constant speed control

The 40v XR79,203 and XR79,206 synchronous step-down COT power modules of MaxLinear combine the controller, driver, inductor, passive components and mosfet into a simple and easy to use QFN package, while occupying a small area and providing high efficiency. Almost no external components are required, which makes the design simple and the time to market fast. All pins are easy to debug and wire, and large pads provide high thermal performance.

     MaxLinear's 40v XR79203 and XR79206 synchronous step down COT power modules combine controller, driver, inductor, passive component, and mosfet into a simple and easy to use QFN package while providing high efficiency with a small footprint. Few external components are required, making design simple and time to market fast. All pins are easy to debug and wire, and the large pad provides high thermal performance.

 

     The 3 A XR79203 and 6 A XR79206 have a wide 5 V to 40 V input voltage range, allowing single-power operation, from the industry standard 24 V±10%, 18 V to 36 V, and rectified 18v (AC) and 24 V(AC) tracks.

 

     Each device uses ceramic output capacitors to provide extremely fast line and load transient responses through a proprietary analog current mode constant time (COT) control scheme. They don't need loop compensation; Therefore, the circuit implementation is simplified and the overall number of components is reduced. The optional power-saving mode allows the user to operate in intermittent mode (DCM) at low current loads, significantly improving converter efficiency.

 

     Each device includes a range of protection features, including overcurrent, overtemperature, short circuit and UVLO. These help to achieve safe operation under abnormal conditions.
