MaxLinear's XR34350 has a wide 10 V RS-232 driver output that supports a wider range of RS-232 peripherals. The XR34350 includes an integrated cable terminal to reduce the number of components and save board space. It supports either full DB9 RS-232 or RS485/RS-422 serial protocols, allowing all three protocols to be used interchangeability on a single cable or connector without the need for additional switching components.
The XR34350 is an advanced multi-protocol transceiver that supports RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422 serial standards in the 40-pin QFN package. It simplifies industrial design and supports a wider range of traditional peripheral 10v RS-232 drive outputs. The integrated cable terminal and four configuration modes allow all three protocols to be used interchangeably on a single cable or connector without the need for additional switching components. Full operation requires only four external charge pump capacitors.
The RS-485/RS-422 mode has a drive and a receiver (1Tx/1Rx) in both half-duplex and full-duplex configurations. RS-232 mode (3Tx/5Rx) provides full support for all eight signals commonly used in DB9 RS-232 connectors. A dedicated diagnostic loopback mode is also provided.
High speed drives run up to 20 Mbps in RS-485/RS-422 mode and 1 Mbps in RS-232 mode. In any mode, all drives can be limited to 250kbps to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).
