Maxim Integrated MAX31334 Ultra-low Power real-time Clock

     Maxim Integrated MAX31334 Ultra-Low Power Real-time Clock is a timing solution with current consumption of only 70nA. The MAX31334 integrates a high-edge power on/off switch to enable ultra-low power idle mode in duty ratio applications by disconnecting tubes connected to other devices in the system.

     The power switch on/off duration can be controlled by a cycle interrupt source, including a countdown timer (programmable range 100 ms to 1 hour) and an alarm (1 second resolution). The power switch can also be controlled by external interrupts (e.g. from buttons) on the DIN pins.

     The MAX31334 comes in a variety of crystals of any load (CL) specification, and can be extended to a combination of available crystals. I2C serial interface connected device. The integrated power-on reset function ensures the default register state determined at power-on.

     The Maxim MAX31334 RTC also features a backup power supply pin (VBAT) and automatically switches to the main power supply (VCC) when it drops below the programmed threshold voltage. Other features include two same-day time alarms, interrupt output, programmable square wave output, time-stamped event detection input (32 byte timestamp registers double as RAM storage), and a serial bus timeout mechanism.

     The MAX31334 comes in a lead-free/Rohs-compliant 12-solder ball, 1.5mm x 2mm WLP (0.5mm foot spacing) and 12-pin 3mm x 3mm TDFN package. In addition, the device has an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
