Maxim Integrated releases a Continua regulator

    Maxim Integrated Products, in the CONTINUA MAX38889 2.5V to 5.5V, 3A reversible increase/antihypertensive regulator to help seek the best combination of the system architect with supercapacitors or other energy backup power supplies. The latest members of Maxim Continua ™ backup regulator family provide the industry's most stringent 2.5%output adjustment accuracy and support key applications that require high precision.

     MAX38889 has a peak efficiency of 94%, 9%higher than the closest competition scheme, enabling it to support longer backup time. In addition, IC is more likely to integrate into a limited -limited design with one -third of the size.

     In applications such as smart meters or car dashboard cameras, MAX38889 Continua regulator works in the antihypertensive mode to charge the power supply for supercapacitors. When the main power supply is not available, the regulator is automatically reverse, and the voltage of the super capacitor is increased to supply the system until the main power is restored.

     For the convenience of design, the entire MAX38889 scheme is 64% smaller than the closest competition scheme (218mm2 vs. 606mm2), allowing designers to reduce the number of components, reduce circuit board space, and save BOM costs. The smaller size also makes it easier to integrate into new designs and existing designs with strict space. MAX38889 can adjust the backup power supply of various portable and non -portable applications, such as retail price scanners and monitoring cameras, as well as other applications such as family, building, automotive, industrial automation and medical health IoT.
