Maxim Integrated's temperature sensor with address and alarm pins requires only one data line to communicate with a single chip computer

     Maxim's MAX31825 communicates via a wire bus, which by definition requires only a data line (and ground) to communicate with the microcontroller. In addition, the sensor can obtain power directly from the data cable (" parasitic power ") without an external power supply.

     The MAX31825 temperature sensor provides 8-bit to 12-bit temperature measurements with an accuracy of better than ±1°C from 0°C to 70°C and better than ±1.75°C from -45°C to 145°C. Each sensor has a unique 64-bit serial code, which allows multiple MAX31825 ics to reside on the same one-line bus. In addition, it includes two address input pins that are bundled using external resistors and pins, allowing the selection of one of 64 different addresses to identify the physical location of each sensor. Therefore, it is simple to use a microprocessor to control many devices distributed over a large area.

     The MAX31825 is available in a 6 bump WLP pack. The voltage of the external power supply ranges from 1.6 V to 3.6 V, and that of the parasitic power supply ranges from 2.3 V to 3.6 V. Operating temperature range is -45°C to 145°C.
