Maxim has announced the launch of the MAX22513 Surge protection, dual-drive, IO-Link device transceiver. The device integrates DC-DC buck regulators to help designers achieve smarter digital factories. As the industry's smallest size, highest power efficiency, and reliable IO-Link device transceiver, the device is ideal for industrial IO-Link sensor and actuator applications.
As Industry 4.0 systems become more intelligent, sensors and actuators must continue to reduce size, improve reliability, and reduce power consumption to more easily adapt to manufacturing environments. In addition, because multiple discrete solutions need to be integrated into the design, it is often difficult for designers to balance the reliability of the solution with the fast time to market.
The MAX22513 accelerates the process of adaptive manufacturing systems, cementing Maxim's leadership in Industry 4.0 applications. The device integrates a DC-DC regulator and surge protection to consume four times less power and three times less size than its nearest competitor. Maxim will continue to push the IO-Link design solution forward, continuously reducing its size to enable more reliable communication and faster time to market. In addition, integrated surge protection and polarity reverse protection ensure reliable communication in harsh industrial environments, accelerating the design process. The IC operates in the -40°C to +125°C temperature range and is available in a 28-pin QFN package (3.5mm x 5.5mm) and WLP package (4.1mm x 2.1mm).
