     Maxim Integrated announced the launch of two industry-leading basic analog ics that provide high-precision, high-reliability solutions for cold chain logistics, including pharmaceuticals, and other temperature monitoring applications. The MAX31889 digital temperature sensor is the perfect combination of high precision and low power consumption to replace expensive resistance temperature detectors (RTDS) in high precision temperature measurement applications. The MAX31825 digital sensor allows up to 64 sensors to be attached to each bus, all powered by the 1-Wire bus parasitically, greatly reducing the complexity of line connections.

 

     MAX31889: High precision, low power consumption and simple design are the basic design goals of pharmaceutical cold chain logistics, medical monitoring and industrial automatic applications. In many cases, even a temperature deviation of 2ºC can restrict the production capacity of high-quality products, adversely affecting the product and thus the economic efficiency. The MAX31889 guarantees the highest temperature measurement accuracy in the industry with the lowest power consumption.

 

     The MAX31889 provides ±0.25ºC accuracy over a wide temperature range, replacing RTD thermometry in pharmaceutical cold chain logistics at a fraction of the cost of RTD and with only 35% of the power consumption of competing solutions. The MAX31889 is available in a 6-pin µDFN package.

 

     MAX31825: In sensitive processing processes and applications, it is often necessary to connect multiple devices in space-constrained environments to measure temperature and protect production processes, assets and equipment from ambient temperature deviations. Current competing solutions only allow up to eight devices to be attached and require additional power cords. The MAX31825 allows up to 64 sensors to be attached to the same 1-wire bus, and supports parasitic power supply, greatly reducing design and line connection complexity, and temperature measurement accuracy of ±1ºC.

 

     Each sensor has a unique serial number and can be configured to the corresponding location address as needed, simplifying system design. The versatility of 1-Wire reduces the number of wires by a factor of eight compared to 2-wire or 3-wire competing solutions, greatly improving system reliability. The MAX31825 is packaged in a 6-ball WLP package and supports long battery life with low standby current of 2.5µA, significantly increasing operating time.
