Maxim introduces the industry's highest level of security for IoT microcontrollers

Maxim Integrated Products announced the launch of the MAX32520 ChipDNATM Secure Arm® Cortex-M4 microcontroller, which physically eliminates cloning (PUF) and is the industry's first secure microcontroller for financial and government applications. Maxim's PUF technology offers multiple layers of protection and is the industry's most advanced, high-performing key protection solution for IoT, healthcare, industrial and computing systems.

     Maxim Integrated Products announced the launch of the MAX32520 ChipDNATM Secure Arm® Cortex-M4 microcontroller, which physically eliminates cloning (PUF) and is the industry's first secure microcontroller for financial and government applications. Maxim's PUF technology offers multiple layers of protection and is the industry's most advanced, high-performing key protection solution for IoT, healthcare, industrial and computing systems.

 

     While the IoT market continues to grow continuously, a large number of devices are being installed in unregulated areas and even potentially risky environments, making them more vulnerable to physical attacks. These attacks are more threatening than the general key cracking, default password attacks and other software tampering. The designers hope to provide a stronger system defense capability for some critical data and operations, to prevent the key disclosure may cause network disruption, company reputation damage and property damage, and even have a negative impact on human life.

 

     Chipdna-based MAX32520 provides multiple layers of protection through its PUF technology, using the most advanced key protection technology in the industry to provide the most secure keys for encryption operations. The device uses tamper-proof PUF keys for flash encryption, and the secure import function supports trust root and serial flash emulation. In addition, when the system is subjected to a malicious attack, the physical protection inherent in the PUF key actively destroys the key without the need for a battery. To date, even the most secure protection schemes have required battery power to achieve this highest level of key protection.
