Maxim introduces the industry's smallest, lowest power intelligent actuator

Trinamic is one of Maxim Integrated brands, and its PD42-1-1243-IOLINK takes full advantage of the flexibility of Maxim Integrated MAX22513 IO-Link transceiver. Enables seamless configuration of all modes of Trinamic TMC2130-LA motor drivers. As the industry's smallest and lowest power consumption NEMA-17 PANdrive™ solution, intelligent actuators can monitor 50% more configuration and performance parameters, effectively reducing production line commissioning time and improving the quality of predictive maintenance data monitoring.

The chipset consisting of TMC2130-LA motor driver and MAX22513 IO-Link transceiver gives full play to the bidirectional communication interface advantages of IO-Link. The PD42-1-1243-IOLINK Intelligent actuator integrates industry-leading motion control technology into a plug-and-play solution that reduces size by 2.6 times and power consumption by more than 50% compared to competing solutions. In addition, smart actuators monitor up to 50 percent more parameters than competing solutions, bringing intelligence to the factory floor to help improve the prediction of plant shutdown failures and maximize plant output.

PD42-1-1243-IOLINK Intelligent actuators include the following chipsets:

● MAX22513: The MAX22513 IO-Link transceiver is 3x smaller than the closest competing solutions, making it the industry's smallest ±1kV/500Ω surge protected dual-drive IO-Link transceiver in 4.2mm x 2.1mm WLP package. The highly integrated solution includes DC-DC regulators, protective diodes, auxiliary digital inputs, I2C or SPI controls, oscillators and a choice of 3.3V or 5V LDO for increased system configurability and reduced SKUs. Thanks to the low 2.0Ω (typical value) C/Q drive on-resistance, device power consumption is 4 times lower than competing solutions.

● TMC2130-LA: Unlike competing solutions, the TMC2130-LA motor drive offers stall detection without the need for sensors to flag unwanted mechanical behavior. The motor driver offers up to 256 times microsteps compared to the industry standard 16 times microsteps, providing extremely smooth, precise motion control for high-precision positioning and minimal resonance. Key integrated features include: A complete drive stage circuit configured from low RDSN channel power MOSFETs to H full bridge, providing up to 1.2A RMS@5-46V drive for drive motor windings; SPI interface is used for system configuration and diagnosis; Direction stepping control interface.
