Maxim introduces three basic analog ics designed for consumer, industrial, healthcare and IoT systems

Maxim Integrated Products announced the launch of three new basic analog ics that help designers effectively extend battery life and reduce solution size in consumer, industrial, healthcare and IoT system design. The MAX17227A 2A nanoPower boost converter, MAX17291 1A High Voltage boost Converter and MAX38911 500mA LDO offer the lowest static current of all competing solutions, increasing system efficiency and extending battery life.

Next-generation IoT systems require large current drives from small batteries to support advanced features such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Device limitations force developers to make a comprehensive trade-off between limiting functionality, reducing battery life or increasing solution size. Three new high-efficiency power ics in Maxim's basic analog product line help ease this dilemma by offering industry-leading benefits in terms of lowest static current and smallest solution size.

MAX17227A: For battery-powered IoT systems that require a boost power supply, the MAX17227A delivers the highest output power with the lowest static current. The device is capable of generating switching currents of up to 2A, twice that of the nearest competing scheme. The static current consumption is only 350nA, which is half of the competitive solution. With short-circuit protection and true shutdown features, this nanoPower boost converter can support input voltage ranges from 400mV to 5.5V, extending battery life by more than 10%.

MAX17291: The MAX17291 delivers up to 20V boost output voltage with 80% reduction in static current and 60% reduction in solution size compared to the closest competing solutions. The boost converter is ideal for battery-powered systems where loads, such as displays or sensors, require high supply voltages.

MAX38911: The MAX38911 500mA LDO reduces the size by up to 50% compared to the nearest competitor and is suitable for battery-powered IoT systems with a current consumption of only 19µA in idle mode, extending battery life by up to 10%. The device has the industry's best power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), an improvement of 16dB over closest competitors, helping to avoid interference with noisy power supplies for critical functions such as high-precision measurement and communication circuits.
