Maxim's filterless high performance amplifiers in small WLP packages do not require vias or programming

     Maxim Integrated's MAX98360x is easy to use, low-cost, digital pulse Coded modulation (PCM) input Class d amplifier delivering Class ab audio performance and Class d efficiency. The digital audio interface automatically recognizes different PCM and time division multiplexing (TDM) clock schemes, thus eliminating the need for I(2)C programming.

     Simple power supply, LRCLK, BCLK, and digital audio to generate audio. A novel outlet allows customers to use cost-effective WLP packages without the need for expensive holes. The MAX98360A and MAX98360B have fast on-off times of 1 ms, while the MAX98360C and MAX98360D boost the volume to more than 13 ms between on-off and off.

     These devices eliminate the need for external MCLK signals commonly used for PCM communication. This not only reduces the size and number of pins, but also reduces electromagnetic interference and possible board coupling problems. The device also has a very high broadband jitter tolerance (12 ns, typ) to provide robust operation against BCLK and LRCLK.

     Active emission limits, edge rate limits and overshoot control circuits greatly reduce electromagnetic interference. The filterless spread spectrum modulation scheme eliminates the need for output filtering found in conventional class d devices and reduces the component count of the solution.

     The digital audio interface is very flexible. These devices support I(2)S, left-justified, and 8-channel TDM data formats. The digital audio interface accepts sampling rates of 8 kHz, 16 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz. Data words can be 16, 24, or 32 bits in I(2)S and left alignment mode, or 16 or 32 bits in TDM mode.

     Digital audio interface input thresholds are ideal for interfaces with 1.2V and 1.8V logic. The device can withstand up to 5.5V logic input voltage. These devices are specified in the temperature range -40°C to +85°C
