Melexis and Geely join hands to create a new era of automotive lighting design

     Melexis announced that Geely Automotive Group, a leading automotive manufacturer, has selected Melexis' chips and innovative MeLiBu technology as its Link & Co. The brand's first electric vehicle, the Z10 model, is equipped with advanced daytime running lights (DRL) and full-color lighting dynamic RGB LED taillights. In order to challenge and push the boundaries of vehicle lighting design, Geely Auto Group specially selected MLX81116, an intelligent RGB LED driver from Milescore, which is known for its outstanding complex dynamic lighting control capabilities and advanced communication interfaces.

     With automotive lighting becoming a key visual element in modern vehicle design, Geely Auto Group is actively exploring unique daytime running light (DRL) and full-color lighting dynamic RGB taillight layouts for its first electric vehicle. In order to achieve stable and reliable color-changing dynamic lighting effects in safety-critical components such as front and rear DRLS, a number of stringent technical requirements must be met, making it essential to adopt high-performance solutions.

     The smart 12-channel RGB LED driver MLX81116 is the ideal solution to meet this demand. This technologically proven, high-performance chip not only provides a comprehensive and reliable solution, but also, in combination with Miley's application support, provides Geely Auto Group with the ability to create unique and compelling lighting features for its first electric vehicle.

     The MLX81116 is self-synchronizing and equipped with a high-speed and powerful communication system, designed for applications that need to manage large numbers of leds, achieve highly animated effects, complex control logic, and a wide dynamic range. The chip has an integrated microcontroller unit (MCU) that executes enhanced LED control algorithms for precise color mixing and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. It is worth mentioning that the MLX81116 achieves a color mixing accuracy of 1% ΔUV, and can effectively compensate for fluctuations caused by temperature changes in red, green and blue leds without any external components.
