Melexis delivers reliable, high-performance, universal Hall-effect latches for cost-sensitive applications

     Melexis has announced the introduction of the reliable Hall effect latch IC MLX 92214, which simplifies design and ensures stable magnetic properties. The device is targeted for cost-sensitive applications such as power tools, personal computers, servers and home appliances. The 3-pin thin Small profile transistor (TSOT) surface mount package is ideal for stand-alone PCB applications.

     The MLX 92214 is a new latch with extremely high magnetic sensitivity that simplifies magnet selection and is unlimited in air gap size. The device uses mixed-signal CMOS technology and has an integrated chopper stabilization amplifier to eliminate output offset. The device also has low power consumption, with typical operating currents of 2.1 mA and a supply voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V, helping to extend the operating time of battery-powered devices.

     In addition to simplifying critical application design components, the MLX 92214 also improves the durability of high-quality equipment. ESD tolerance of 6 kV (HBM) improves reliability for applications such as hand tools. In addition, the small CMOS chip size reduces sensitivity to mechanical stress.
