Melexis introduces the MLX92216 and MLX92217 Ultra-low power Hall switches, which have the advantages of power consumption of only 1 microwatt and less error, helping to accurately predict power costs and extend battery uptime. These magnetic devices can be used to detect the on/off position and replace traditional reed tube switches, making them the first choice for Internet of Things (IoT), industrial and white goods applications.
In modern society, the demand for battery-powered smart devices is increasing day by day, and the requirement for extending battery operating time is becoming more and more urgent, so iot applications are facing great challenges. Therefore, meeting the industry's demand for ultra-low-power, high-reliability, high-precision components is critical to continue to drive the continued development of embedded and connected devices.
The MLX92216 and MLX92217 microwatt switches released by Melexis directly address this need. Both three-wire Hall switches deliver industry-leading accuracy, stability and reliability throughout the life cycle of the application. It is available in unipolar, all-polar and latch sizes for applications such as lid on/off inspection, wearables, industrial machines, home appliances, tablet housings, valves, energy and flow meters, as well as replacing traditional proximity switches and reed tube switches.
The MLX92216 and MLX92217 feature an advanced power supply design with integrated automatic sleep/wake logic and an average current consumption of just 0.9μA without any user action (depending on the model). In addition, the MLX92217 features an "enable" pin that allows users to activate or disable automatic sleep logic, reducing standby current consumption to 200nA while keeping the system ready to wake up. The minimum/maximum error fluctuation of these two switches is very small (< 50%) to help achieve a stable power budget and extend the service life as long as possible, providing reliable performance over the entire life cycle of the product (i.e., peak current consumption of less than 1.5μA).
The MLX92216 and MLX92217 offer a variety of magnetic threshold ranges and options such as multiple update rates or operating voltage ranges (1.6V to 5.5V). The two switch chips are available in two different small packages: UTDFN-4L and TSOT-3L for ambient temperatures ranging from -40 ° C to 85 ° C.
