Melexis launches the dual-chip stacked magnetic sensor, setting a new benchmark for safe magnetic induction against stray magnetic field interference

Melexis has announced the latest dual-chip stacked versions of the MLX90425 and MLX90426, expanding its line of innovative Triaxis magnetic sensor chips. The new version of the chip has 5mT stray field immunity (SFI) and supports 360° magnet rotation detection, which can meet the safety requirements of steering wheel and gas pedal position sensing, helping to improve the level of autonomous driving.

     Melexis has announced the latest dual-chip stacked versions of the MLX90425 and MLX90426, expanding its line of innovative Triaxis magnetic sensor chips. The new version of the chip has 5mT stray field immunity (SFI) and supports 360° magnet rotation detection, which can meet the safety requirements of steering wheel and gas pedal position sensing, helping to improve the level of autonomous driving.

 

     With the increasing demand for vehicle autonomy, the level of vehicle electrification is gradually improving, and the wide application of "drive-by-wire" technology is gradually replacing the traditional mechanical connection system. In this area, especially for the drive-by-wire design of core systems such as steering, throttle and braking, reliable sensing technology with built-in redundancy is highly dependent. This redundancy is essential to ensure the functional safety and availability of critical systems. In addition, in the face of the booming electric vehicle (EV) market, the ability to resist stray magnetic field interference is also an indispensable technical requirement, which ensures that sensors can still measure accurately in complex electromagnetic environments.

 

     In response to the automotive industry's demand for increased autonomy, safety and electrification, Melai has expanded its highly acclaimed range of anti-stray magnetic field 360° rotation detection chips with dual-chip stacked versions of the MLX90425 and MLX90426. This design integrates two chips in a single TSSOP-16 (SMD) or SMP-4 (no PCB required) package.

 

     This innovative design not only complies with the ASIL C standard, but also supports system-level integration up to ISO 26262 ASIL D level, meeting the increasingly stringent safety standards in the automotive industry. The dual-chip stacked versions of the MLX90425 and MLX90426 offer a significant increase in integration compared to traditional discrete dual-chip solutions. Both chips have excellent accuracy and can maintain accurate measurements in stray magnetic fields up to 5mT, ensuring data accuracy and reliability. In addition, they have tailor-made specification options designed to support customers in creating cost-effective end solutions.

 

     The core of the MLX90425 and MLX90426 is Mile-based magnetic induction technology that enables accurate magnetic flux measurements in a single chip. Not only do they have programmable linear transmission characteristics of up to 17 points, but they also support a wide operating temperature range from -40 ° C to 160 ° C, making them ideal for automotive applications.
