Melexis offers an absolute magnetic position sensor IC with powerful SFI

     The new Melexis MLX90376 is an absolute magnetic position sensor IC with a powerful SFI to handle 360-degree rotation for automotive applications. Its double-laminated pcb less version is unique to the market. The device supports system integration up to ASIL Class D functional safety, providing state-of-the-art sensing for steering and valve applications. The mix of performance and robustness it provides will be valuable for vehicle electrification.

     Based on patented technology, the IC belongs to the Triaxis high-end family. Developed specifically for demanding steering wheel Angle, throttle and thermal management valve applications, the IC offers a unique combination of features, including the dual stack die option in PCB-free solutions; ASIL C Security Element out of Context (SEooC) supports up to ASIL D system integration (ISO 26262); SFI up to 5mT (4000A/m) is suitable for 360-degree rotation applications (ISO 11452-8). The position sensor can be packaged in an SMP-4 PCB-less or SMD package. Using the SMP-4 version makes mechanical integration easier and speeds up development and design. The main advantage of double-stacked dies over off-axis tolerances is off-axis tolerances, which are critical for applications such as electric power steering (EPS).

     The SMD version is available in SOIC-8(for single-mode) and TSSOP-16(for dual-mode) package formats. MLX90376 is ASIL compliant and has been developed under ISO 26262 as ASIL C S SEooC.
