Melexis released MLX81,143, a vehicle LED driver chip, to help achieve dynamic lighting in the vehicle

     Melexis announced the launch of LED driver chip MLX81143, which is MeLiBu ®  New members are added to the product line. This product integrates 21 LED constant current sources and can improve the power management of the entire system. MLX81143 has a very wide dimming range, and can achieve excellent brightness adjustment effect no matter in the day or at night. MeLiBu  The interface supports driving up to 3000 LEDs in the vehicle at the same time, providing dynamic safety warnings and enhancing communication between the vehicle and the driver.

     At present, automobile manufacturers use dynamic lighting in their cars to convey important information such as driving aids and vehicle status updates. Color changes and various flashing sequences enhance information that requires the driver's attention. However, this also brings many challenges to engineering design, such as the need to keep all LED colors consistent and ensure that they change at the same time.

     The MLX81143 integrates Melexis CAN over UART MeLiBu (patent license free) solutions to address these challenges. This high-speed communication interface allows individual leds to be controlled separately to achieve lighting effects defined by the vehicle system. The intelligent RGB-LED controller can also provide real-time compensation for any color deviation due to environmental changes, with a mixing accuracy of less than 1%, ensuring that there are no significant differences between leds.

     MeLiBu technology has been adopted by a number of multinational automobile manufacturers. The MeLiBu communication interface is based on the CAN-FD physical layer and provides stable and reliable performance at speeds of up to 2 Mbit. Combining UART with the MeLiBu (CAN-FD) protocol enables intelligent, high-resolution operation while reducing temperature-related color bias, helping to provide a consistent, non-distracting user experience under a variety of operating conditions.

     MLX81143 is AEC-Q100 certified and meets ASIL standards. The chip meets the ISO 26262 functional safety requirements and can achieve the ASIL B functional safety rating. The MLX81143 architecture helps designers meet EMC requirements. At the same time, the chip has lower EMI radiation and higher EMI interference resistance.
