
Microchip Technology Inc. announced the launch of the industry's first PIC32CM LS60 single chip microcomputer (MCU) with integrated security subsystem and Arm TrustZone technology in a single package. The new microcontroller integrates the security subsystem of Microchip's Trust Platform, making it easier to develop terminal products using a single microcontroller instead of two or more chips. Now, designers can use this trusted 32-bit microcontroller to protect products and end users' smart home devices, smartphone or tablet accessories, portable medical devices, wearable devices, interconnected appliances and industrial robots from remote or physical attacks.
With the continuous and rapid development of the Internet of Things industry, high standards of security protection have become indispensable for edge devices. PIC32CM LS60 combines the easy-to-use Arm TrustZone technology and the "high" level trusted platform security subsystem identified in the Joint Interpretation Library (JIL) of Common Standards, enabling developers to implement industry recognized security practices and countermeasures to prevent various known remote and physical attacks. The relevant design has obtained MPLAB ® Support of tools such as Code Configurator (MCC) TrustZone Manager and Trusted Platform Design Suite simplifies the configuration of the security subsystem. Microchip Trusted Platform Configuration Service can be used to securely configure keys and certificates.

With more and more waterproof wearable devices and modern appliances using touch screen functions, embedded designers are faced with the challenge of developing a touch screen interface that can operate stably in noisy and humid environments. The PIC32CM LS60 integrates an enhanced peripheral touch screen controller with the Driven Shield Plus function, which can prevent the wrong touch screen caused by moisture, and provides high noise resistance to achieve excellent touch screen interface functions.
In addition, the device has a Sleep Walking peripheral and event system independent of the core. These peripherals can make the MCU core stay in sleep mode for a long time to reduce power consumption. It is also equipped with on-chip analog, including operational amplifier (o op amp), digital to analog converter (DAC) and analog to digital converter (ADC), which can operate in sleep mode and connect with various sensors. The PIC32CM LS60 is compatible with the MPLAB Data Visualizer and Power Debugger tools and can be used to monitor, analyze, and fine tune power consumption data in real time. This makes it easier for customers to develop low-power applications and to market products with longer battery life faster.
