Microchip Technology LAN8830 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver

     Microchip Technology LAN8830 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver (with RGMII function) is an integrated three-speed (10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T) Ethernet physical layer transceiver. Designed to transmit and receive data over standard CAT-5, CAT-5e, and CAT6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables.

     The LAN8830 features RGMII (simplified Gigabit media independent interface) for connecting Ethernet switches, microcontrollers, or microprocessors. In addition, the Embedded Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) provides the RGMIII interface for 1000Mbps or 10/100Mbps data transfer.

     Microchip LAN8830 transceiver reduces circuit board cost and simplifies circuit board layout by connecting resistor at the upper end of the chip for four differential pairs. In addition, the LAN8830 has an integrated LDO controller that drives low-cost MosFeTs to power a 1.2V core. The LAN8830 comes in a RoHs-compliant 48-pin QFN package.

     These devices have diagnostic capabilities that enable system tuning and debugging during production testing and product deployment.
