Microchip Technology PL460 programmable narrowband PLC modem designed to run any PLC protocol in bands below 500kHz. The PL460 is embedded with PLC line drivers for a highly integrated solution that reduces gross bill of materials, simplifies layout and simplifies modem design.

Microchip PL460 PLC modems meet FCC, ARIB, KN60, and CENELEC EN50065 regulatory matching requirements for Internet of Things (IoT) and smart energy applications. The device supports advanced narrowband PLC standards, such as ITU G.9903 (G3-PLC®), ITU G.9904 (PRIME) and any other narrowband PLC protocols, as well as being a future-oriented platform to support the development of these standards.

The PL460 is designed to be driven by an external Microchip host device, thus providing greater flexibility on the host side. The Microchip host device loads the appropriate PLC protocol firmware into the PL460 (before the modem runs) and controls the PL460 modem.
