
With the development of the electric vehicle and autonomous vehicle market, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are faced with increasing application complexity and the demand for functional safety and reliable solutions that comply with AUTOSAR and ISO 26262. In order to support automotive developers to design scalable applications for the future technology and meet the requirements of the latest vehicle regulations, Microchip Technology Inc announced the launch of a comprehensive ecosystem centered on the AUTOSAR ready dsPIC33C Digital Signal Controller (DSC), which helps to accelerate development and high-level system optimization, while reducing the total cost of the system.
Microchip has been expanding its extensive dsPIC33C DSC product portfolio and covering the large memory segment by introducing a new dsPIC33CK1024MP7xx series that conforms to the ISO 26262 standard. This new series of dsPIC33C DSC has 1 MB flash memory, and supports running a variety of automotive software, such as AUTOSAR, OS, MCAL driver, ISO 26262 functional safety diagnosis and safety library. The dsPIC33 DSC product family also includes a high-performance central processing unit (CPU) with deterministic response and dedicated peripherals for automotive, advanced sensing and control, digital power supply and motor control applications.

The advantage of using AUTOSAR ready devices is that customers can improve risk and complexity management while reducing development time through reusability. Customers who have previously designed bare metal or non AUTOSAR automotive applications but now use AUTOSAR can continue to expand their scale by staying in the dsPIC33C DSC ecosystem and taking advantage of Microchip's value-added solutions, customer support and the new AUTOSAR ready dsPIC33C DSC products. The AUTOSAR ecosystem of dsPIC33C DSC includes Vector's MICROSAR Classic, KPIT Technologies Ltd.'s KSAR OS, and Microchip's MCAL drivers that meet ASPICE and ASIL B standards.

Microchip has expanded the functional safety package including FMEDA report, safety manual and diagnostic library to cover dsPIC33CK1024MP7xx DSC conforming to ISO 26262 standard. These AUTOSAR ready dsPIC33C DSC and microchip TA100 CryptoAutomotive ™ Safety integrated circuit (IC) can be used together to achieve strong safety in automobile design.
