Microchip's buffers are suitable for clock distribution, Intel QPI servers, storage and data centers, and PCI Express applications

     Microchip Technology's ZL4029x series are high-performance ultra-low jitter low power 1 to 20 High speed current steering logic (HCSL) splitter buffers. ZL40292 and ZL40294 fully comply with DB2000Q and DB2000QL standards, while ZL40293 and ZL40295 are available for PCIe Gen 1, 2, 3 and 4 specifications.

     Each buffer is an ideal complement to chipsets that require distributed clocks across several peripheral components such as central processing units (cpus), field Programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), data center servers and physical layers (PHYs) in storage devices, and many other PCIe applications. The device's low attached jitter of about 20 femtoseconds (fs) far exceeds the DB2000Q/QL specification's 80 fs. This provides a large margin for designers to meet tight time budgets while achieving ever-increasing data rates. These devices will minimize jitter distribution clocks with up to 20 outputs, thus maintaining the integrity and quality of the clock signal through the buffer.

     By using low power High Speed Current Steering logic (LP-HCSL), the buffer achieves low power consumption and significant savings in the power budget. Compared with standard HCSL, the power consumption of LP-HCSL is only one third of that of standard HCSL, and the power consumption is significantly reduced. This feature also enables customers to drive longer trajectories on the board, resulting in improved signal routing while reducing component and board space. Compared to traditional HCSL buffers, the ZL40292 can eliminate up to 80 terminal resistors (4 per output).
