Microchip technology LAN8831 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver

     Microchip Technology LAN8831 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver and GMII/MII/RGMII are fully integrated three speed (10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T) Ethernet physical layer transceiver. The equipment is designed to transmit and receive data through standard CAT-5, CAT-5e and CAT-6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP).

     Microchip LAN8831 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver provides industry standard GMII/MII (Gigabit Media Independent Interface/Media Independent Interface), which is used to connect with the GMII/MII mac in the Gigabit Ethernet processor and switch, and transmit data at 1000Mbps or 10/100Mbps. In addition, optional RGMII (reduced gigabit media independent interface) mode is also provided, enabling the LAN8831 to deliver additional gpio.

     The LAN8831 simplifies the layout of the board, reduces the cost of the board, implements on-chip terminal resistors for four differential pairs, and integrates an LDO controller to drive low-cost MOSFETs to provide core voltage. The LAN8831 has diagnostic functions to facilitate system startup and commissioning in production testing and product deployment. It is packaged in a 64 pin, rohs compliant VQFN package.
