
Micron Technology announced the launch of its GDDR6 memory, Micron's fastest, most powerful and graphics-enabled memory that will be the high-performance memory of choice to support Achronix's next-generation stand-alone FPGA chips using TSMC's 7nm process technology. GDDR6 is optimized for demanding applications, including machine learning, that require multi-terabit storage broadband, enabling Achronix to offer FPGA solutions at up to half the cost of other FPgas using comparable storage solutions.
The integrated development environment enables designers to quickly implement FPGA applications from C ++ using Mentor's Catapult®HLS and Achronix's ACE design tools, first for 5G wireless applications, reducing overall development effort and improving quality of results (QoR). Of course, it also applies to any design for Achronix technology.Achronix's high-performance FPgas, combined with GDDR6 memory, provide the industry's highest bandwidth storage solution for accelerating machine learning workloads in data center and automotive applications.
This new joint solution addresses many of the challenges inherent in deep neural networks, including storing large data sets, reweighting parameters, and memory activation; The underlying hardware needs to store, process, and move data quickly between the processor and memory. In addition, because machine learning algorithms are constantly adjusting and changing, programmability is needed to implement designs more efficiently. Achronix's next-generation FPgas have been optimized for handling machine learning workloads and are currently the only FPGas family to support GDDR6 memory.

Achronix's next generation FPGA offerings include up to eight enhanced GDDR6 memory interfaces, providing customers with the flexibility to choose from multiple memory configurations for their end application. Customers can use from one to eight GDDR6 memory devices, which can provide more than 4 Tb/s of memory bandwidth and 8Gb to 128Gb of density. This flexibility enables customers to optimize cost and power consumption for their applications, which is not possible with currently available high-bandwidth memory solutions such as HBM2.
