Micron's independent graphics memory can help Nvidia achieve groundbreaking gaming speeds

Micron has announced GDDR6X, the world's fastest stand-alone graphics memory solution, which is the first to help achieve 1 TB/ second system bandwidth. Micron has partnered with graphics computing technology leader NVIDIA to deliver GDDR6X for the first time in new NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics processors (Gpus) to enable faster speeds for immersive, high-performance gaming applications.

     Micron Technology has unveiled GDDR6X, the world's fastest stand-alone graphics memory solution, leading the way in enabling system bandwidth to reach 1 TB/ SEC. Micron has partnered with graphics computing technology leader NVIDIA to deliver GDDR6X for the first time in new NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics processors (Gpus) to enable faster speeds for immersive, high-performance gaming applications.

 

     Micron introduces the world's fastest stand-alone graphics memory, helping NVIDIA achieve groundbreaking gaming speeds. Tom Eby, senior vice president and general manager of Micron's Computing and Networking Products group, said: "Our multi-stage signal innovation for GDDR6X breaks traditional bandwidth limits and achieves unprecedented speeds. Unlike traditional memory, GDDR6X offers exceptional data transfer rates that keep pace with gaming innovation and data-intensive applications - setting a new standard for graphics memory."

 

     Micron GDDR6X strongly supports NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080, significantly improving the performance of the graphics card. Building on its previous work with NVIDIA on GeForce RTX graphics products with GDDR6, Micron has revolutionized the memory /GPU interface of GDDR6X to enhance complex graphics workloads in next-generation gaming applications.

 

     Jeff Fisher, senior vice president of NVIDIA's GPU business group, said: "Micron is enabling the memory technology of the future ahead of schedule with the breakthrough speed of GDDR6X.      As computer games become more sophisticated, today's gamers increasingly value the high performance offered by advanced graphics cards - ensuring smooth animation, a sharp visual experience, 8K resolution, and real-time ray tracing (a rendering technology that presents realistic light and cinematic effects). The breakthrough speed of GDDR6X provides discerning gamers with the highest frame rate and high resolution of real-time rendering, giving users a highly realistic and immersive experience without latency. GDDR6X works with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 Gpus to deliver ultra-high bandwidth performance, improved real-time ray tracing and neural network graphics processing to create realistic, immersive virtual world experiences for computer games.

 

     The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Gpus are the second-generation NVIDIA RTX computer gaming platform with a new ray tracing Core, Tensor Core, and multiple stream processors. These technologies work together to bring stunning visuals, high frame rates, and AI acceleration to games and creative applications. Using the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, the RTX 30 series achieves up to 1.9 times better performance-power ratio compared to the previous generation, easily supporting a wide range of graphics resolutions up to 8K. The series is considered to be NVIDIA's most improved generation of Gpus to date.
