Microsemi Corporation announced the introduction of the LX3301A, the first device in a new family of sensor interface integrated circuits (ics) based on inductive sensing technology, which is the first induction sensor IC on the market to utilize a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) architecture on a printed circuit board (PCB). Designed for automotive and industrial market range applications.
The sensor is the main component of the feedback loop in almost all closed-loop systems, and the LX3301A sensor interface IC based on the LVDT principle features excellent anti-noise and anti-interference capabilities by utilizing the induction sensing technology from Megalo Semi. The technology also provides an alternative to Hall-effect sensors, which are currently prevalent in the market and are based on magnets that are susceptible to external magnetic fields and/or approaching metal objects; However, this induction technology eliminates magnets, thereby improving immunity to such interference.
ShafyEltoukhy, vice president and business unit manager at Medco, said: "Medco is a leader in inductive sensing technology and has been offering custom IC production products for more than five years, and we are excited to expand the market opportunity with the LX3301A. "Induction sensing is an emerging technology that can replace Hall effect sensing in a wide range of mechanical motion sensing applications and offers customers significant temperature stability improvements, enhanced reliability and safety, and lower system costs."
The new devices are suitable for a variety of applications related to control systems and industrial automation, especially linear displacement measurement (fluid level sensing, gear position for transmission driver position, brake light switch/proximity detection) and angular motion measurement (robotic arm position, rotary shaft position, pedal position and rotation control). The device also meets demanding automotive application requirements, including AECQ100 Level 1 certification, ISO26262 compliance and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation support.
