Microsemi introduces industrial-grade power supplies for Ethernet mid-span devices

     Microsemi's announcement of the availability of its PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI Powered Power over Ethernet (PoE) mid-span injectors expands the company's industry-leading PoE product portfolio into new industrial and outdoor applications. The PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI Industrial PoE mid-span devices are targeted for applications including physical security, WLAN infrastructure, mobile communications infrastructure, and industrial automation.

     According to market research firm Technavio, the number of industrial Ethernet nodes deployed around the world is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.52 percent during the 2014-2019 period. As Microsemi continues to expand its growing portfolio of industrial-grade power supplies, it will continue to develop unique solutions that cater to the demanding applications of this market.

     The new devices targeted for Microsemi include industrial and outdoor Internet Protocol (IP) cameras, Wi-Fi access points (aps), cellular small cells, wireless backtravel, access control devices, including human machine interfaces (Hmis), motors, and industrial sensors. The rise of IP cameras in industrial manufacturing processes to maximize video transmission bandwidth while minimizing deployment costs, the amount of cabling required has contributed to the growth of PoE and Gigabit Ethernet factory automation.

     The PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI comply with IEEE 802.3-2012 Article 33 "Power over Ethernet", which enables reliable operation, convenient plug-in and playback with intelligent management of the device. These PoE cross-devices can be used to simultaneously ensure the deployment of low-cost industrial and outdoor equipment easily deployed over Ethernet. Both systems are certified for industrial and outdoor applications, ensuring safe, reliable performance with maximum protection. Add non-poe switches in the PD-9501GI and PD-9001GI shell deployed outdoors.

     About Microsemi PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI The PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI are both single-port, high-power solutions designed for industrial and outdoor applications with a demanding extended-stage temperature range, and are ideal for today's remote power supply and emerging high-power applications. Purchased up to 30 watts (W) with the PD-9001GI and up to 60 watts with the PD-9501GI, both systems enable AP terminals for remote power applications, including 802.11 access points, PTZ cameras, and more.
