Microsemi partners with New Wave DV to develop innovative networking products and IP cores for Ethernet and Fibre Channel solutions

     Microsemi Corporation, a leading provider of differentiated semiconductor technology solutions in terms of power, safety, reliability and performance, announced a partnership with New Wave Design & Verification (New Wave) DV) collaborates to develop networking hardware and Fibre Channel IP cores. Both the PMC/XMC card and the IP kernel are now available for SmartFusion2 SoC FPGas and IGLOO2 FPgas from Megalomy, accelerating the development cycle for new defense, aerospace, enterprise networking and storage applications using Ethernet and/or Fibre Channel.

     This Fibre Channel IP kernel provides a standard off-the-shelf Fibre Channel IP that can be implemented by designers and system architects on FPGA devices. New Fibre Channel core and application level solutions using SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA or IGLOO2 FPGA devices, New opportunities have been created in avionics, commercial aviation, defense (such as the Joint Strike Fighter program), enterprise networking, and storage. According to the Frost and Sullivan report, the global commercial aircraft fleet will double by 2020.

     Fibre Channel IP core provides a complete Fibre Channel solution from layer FC-1 to Layer FC-2. At the physical layer, the kernel is dedicated to connecting Microsemi SERDES, while the kernel's user interface provides an intuitive streaming media interface for application designers.
