The 878 series Maxnetic spring loaded magnetic connector of Mill Max has self-aligning, self positioning and zero force matching, which can realize fast and easy connection, making component connection easy, reliable and durable.
When the connector is magnetically pulled and held together, the electrical connection is established by Maxnetic spring loading and mating target pins. The connector does not need to be aligned or plugged in, nor does it need any hardware to maintain connectivity, making the 878 series magnetic connector ideal for use in environments where cables and devices are repeatedly plugged in and out. The capability of fast connection, blind plug and emergency disconnection without damaging components makes the connector very suitable for many applications, including medical environment and portable equipment docking station/charging station.
Maxnetic product line has a pair of connectors, including a through hole PCB mounted spring loaded connector and a shielded target connector with solder cup termination. This combination is ideal for cable to device applications. They are single row connectors with 2 to 6 positions and a pin pitch of 0.1575 "(4 mm). The spring-loaded connector has a board height of 0.378" (9.6 mm), It also contains spring loaded pins with a maximum stroke of 0.090 "(2.3 mm). Their life is up to 1000000 cycles, contact resistance is 25 milliohms, and the rated current of each pin is 7.2 A (the current rating is based on the derating of a single pin in free air) All components are gold plated.
The target connector has a shield to ensure alignment and engagement with the spring-loaded mating connector, and has gold plated solder cup pins to accommodate up to 16 AWG wires. The use of rugged NdFeB magnets on both connectors provides an average separation force of 1.4 pounds (636 g) [1 pound (454 g) minimum]. It allows the connector to be aligned and connected at a maximum distance of 0.500 "(12.7 mm). The connector can be used for power or signal transmission and can be installed vertically or horizontally. The use of high-quality Mill Max spring loaded pins ensures optimal electrical and mechanical reliability.
