Molex Corporation announced the expansion of its fiber optic technology platform through its recent acquisition of Oplink Communications. Oplink, now part of Molex and formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries, is a leading supplier of fiber optic communication components, intelligent modules and subsystems for a wide range of custom applications.
Doug Busch, vice president and general manager of Molex's Fiber Solutions Business group, said: "Molex works closely with customers to address fiber design challenges directly through innovative electronic solutions. "Oplink's strength, expertise and proven advanced technology, combined with our fiber portfolio and global engineering and manufacturing platform, puts Molex in a unique position to deliver complete fiber solutions to customers around the world."
In telecommunications, data communications, medical, military/aerospace and many other industries, Molex is a leading supplier of advanced fiber optic interconnect systems including connectors and adapters, optoelectronics, fiber optic components, backplanes, optical circuits and integrated systems. Oplink's track record in the supply of passive fiber products, OMS(Optical Manufacturing Solutions) and active optoelectronics further expands the breadth and depth of Molex's fiber connectivity portfolio.
Oplink specializes in delivering complete solutions through advanced fiber optic transmission and delivery technologies to customers in the telecommunications, wireless and data communications infrastructure markets and data center applications, as well as in cable television, government/military, and fiber optic sensing related fields. While bandwidth-intensive applications continue to upgrade and expand customer networks, Oplink's products provide active optoelectronics and passive fiber components with services such as creating DWDM/CWDM bandwidth, managing bandwidth, optical amplification, switching and routing, wavelength regulation, monitoring and protection, connectivity, and system-level underlayers. Its solutions address a wide range of needs. These leading fiber solutions are fully supported by vertically integrated design and manufacturing services.
