Molex introduces Brad M12 Power Supply F-code Wire Set and socket products

     Molex introduces the Brad M12 Power Supply F-code wire Set and socket product with a blind pin design and industry-leading current carrying capability of up to 16 amps per pin. The products have been developed to meet the growing power requirements of motors, solenoid operated valves, drive devices, and 24-volt DC auxiliary power systems in automated control systems, and are suitable for LED lighting and commercial vehicle applications.

     Randy Brant, product Manager at Molex, said: "The new Brad M12 power interconnect system has some major advantages over existing connector interfaces, such as the M23 and MIL-C-5015 devices, which are larger and more expensive. In addition, the connector's F-coded pairing interface is expected to be adopted by the IEC 61076-2-111 standard and has been submitted for ANSI/EIA approval, the open standard used to approve industrial connectors. This expands product adoption across multiple platforms and manufacturers."

     The F-code pairing interface prevents accidental use of other M12 connectors for input, output, signal, or industrial network connections. In addition, blind key design can greatly reduce the chance of incorrect insertion, especially in restricted access areas where visibility is limited. To avoid electrical damage, the pin of the connector is recessed into the contact bracket. The reinforced socket design allows for more efficient dissipation of heat generated by high current carrying capacity while maintaining a compact size.

     The four-pin M12 connector can accommodate sizes up to 14 AWG/2.5 sq. mm specifications, with a rated operating range of 300 volts AC/DC and an insulation strength voltage of 1,600 volts. The connector's operating temperature range is -20 to +90ºC, and the IP67 rated sealed interface makes it ideal for use in harsh and humid industrial environments. The connector is dustproof and can be temporarily submerged in water up to 1 meter (3 ft 3.37 in) deep.
