The MPQ86xx series of Monolithic Power Systems is a fully integrated high-frequency, synchronous step-down converter. These converters provide a very compact solution to achieve output currents up to 12 a, with good load and line regulation, over a wide input power range. They work efficiently in a wide range of output current loads, and use internally compensated normally open time (COT) control to provide fast transient response and easy loop stability

     Monolithic Power Systems' MPQ86xx family is fully integrated high frequency, synchronous step-down converters. These converters offer a very compact solution that achieves up to 12 a output current with good load and line regulation over a wide input power range.

 

     They operate efficiently over a wide output current load range and use internally compensated normally open time (COT) control to provide fast transient response and easy loop stabilization. The operating frequency can be set to 600 kHz, 800 kHz, 1000 kHz, 1100 kHz, or 2000 kHz with the mode configuration, allowing the MPQ86xx frequency to remain constant regardless of input and output voltage.

 

     The output voltage starting ramp is controlled by an internal 1.5ms timer, which can be increased by adding a capacitor to the TRK/REF. A drain power Good (PGOOD) signal indicates whether the output is within its nominal voltage range. When the input power supply cannot supply power to the converter, the PGOOD clamp with an external pull-up voltage of about 0.7V.

 

     Complete protection features include overcurrent protection (OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), and overtemperature protection (OTP). MPQ86xx requires a small number of off-the-shelf standard external components that can be used in a variety of QFN packages.
