Monolithic power system (MPS) MCS1806 Hall effect current sensor

     Monolithic power System (MPS) MCS1806 Hall Effect current sensor is a 3kVRMS isolated current sensor with an operating voltage of 500VRMS and an accuracy of ±2.5%. These linear Hall effect current sensors for AC or DC current transducers combine differential Hall arrays to cancel out any stray magnetic fields.

     The working principle involves a primary conductor with low resistance that allows current to flow near the IC containing a high-precision Hall effect sensor. The magnetic field generated by the current is induced by an integrated Hall effect transducer at two different points. The magnetic field difference between the two points is converted into a voltage proportional to the applied current.

     The MCS1806 current sensor has a bi-directional range of ±5A to ±50A, adjustable bandwidth up to 100kHz, and a ratio of voltage from the supply to measure output. These Hall effect sensors are available in the SOIC-8 package, which is factory trim accurate and does not provide magnetic hysteresis. The MCS1806 Hall Effect current sensor is ideal for use in multiphase inverters, motor controls, automotive systems, switched mode power supplies (smps), overcurrent fault protection, load detection and management.
