Morse Microelectronics, the world's leading provider of Wi-Fi HaLow chips, has introduced the first Wi-Fi HaLow access point reference design, HaLowLink 1, further expanding the company's suite of iot evaluation tools. As the preeminent reference design and evaluation platform, HaLowLink 1 is designed to realize the full potential of Wi-Fi HaLow technology, combining the long range coverage, high-speed transmission and low power consumption benefits of Wi-Fi HaLow.
HaLowLink 1, created by Morse Microelectronics and GL.iNet, combines solid hardware with an intuitive user interface to greatly simplify the Wi-Fi HaLow network setup process. This powerful tool provides manufacturers, telecom partners, system integrators, and developers worldwide with a plug-and-play evaluation experience and reference design that significantly accelerates the commercialization of Wi-Fi HaLow access points.
Flexible and powerful design
At the heart of HaLowLink 1 is the AzureWave AW-HM593 module with Morse Microelectronics' Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow™ MM6108 chip built in, providing long-range coverage and low-power capabilities for a variety of iot applications. The device supports multiple bandwidths of 1 MHz /2 MHz /4 MHz /8 MHz, ensuring a stable connection in a wide area environment. In addition, HaLowLink 1 incorporates Mediatek's MT7621A dual-core CPU and MT7603E 2x2 802.11n 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 4 solution, enabling seamless communication between Wi-Fi HaLow and traditional Wi-Fi devices.
HaLowLink 1 supports a variety of application scenarios, demonstrating the versatility of its support for Wi-Fi HaLow and traditional Wi-Fi networks. It mainly includes:
● Create a Wi-Fi HaLow network: Use HaLowLink 1 as an access point to create a Wi-Fi HaLow network for Wi-Fi Halow-enabled devices and provide connectivity for existing 2.4GHz and Ethernet devices.
● Connect devices to Wi-Fi HaLow networks: Use HaLowLink 1 to connect legacy devices to Wi-Fi HaLow networks to extend their availability. Connect your device to HaLowLink 1 via Ethernet, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or USB, and then send data over Wi-Fi HaLow.
● Extend the existing network range: In areas where the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network signal is difficult to cover, connect HaLowLink 1 to the central network, and then connect another HaLowLink 1 at the desired location as an extender, which will provide the device with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Ethernet services. And connect them back to the central network via Wi-Fi HaLow.
● Implementation of wireless virtual lines: Replace Ethernet lines with two HaLowLink 1 devices to achieve remote wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi HaLow. With the press of a simple button, you can pair your devices together for easy setup.
Michael De Nil, co-founder and CEO of Morse Microelectronics, said: "HaLowLink 1 is more than just an ordinary Wi-Fi HaLow access point, it is a major breakthrough for iot networks, delivering superior coverage and flexibility on this small, versatile platform. With Morse Microelectronics' HaLowLink 1, we are setting a new standard for the possibilities of the Internet of Things and remote connectivity. Together with GL.iNet, we have created an intuitive and powerful tool for developers, original equipment manufacturers, and system integrators to build and evaluate scalable, future-proof networks that meet the needs of today's most challenging environments and drive the future of iot innovation."
With its feature-rich design, HaLowLink 1 is a powerful solution that redefines the possibilities of iot devices, supporting applications ranging from smart home applications to industrial iot.
Alfie Zhao, Chief Technology Officer, GL.iNet, said: "GL.iNet is proud to be working with Morse Microelectronics to create HaLowLink 1. This product fully demonstrates the power and unlimited potential of Wi-Fi HaLow technology. Our hardware design expertise is combined with Morse Microelectronics' leading technology in Wi-Fi HaLow to create a versatile, high-performance solution. HaLowLink 1 has been designed to meet the growing demands of iot networks, and we're excited to see it lead a revolution in how industries are connected."
Effective immediately, Morse Microelectronics is offering samples of HaLowLink 1 to selected Tier 1 Original Equipment manufacturer (OEM) and network Service Provider (ISP) customers. Starting from the first quarter of 2025, it will work with Moze Electronics to open sales to the broad Wi-Fi HaLow developer community at a price of $99, helping to innovate and develop various iot applications.
