Murata has developed a "stretchable circuit board" that works even when the board is bent and stretched, ensuring high reliability. It is expected to be used in medical and health care wearable devices that collect biological information on the surface of the body, and because of its scalability, it can provide a more comfortable adhesive feeling while achieving high-precision data collection. Murata can customize design, trial production, verification and mass production according to the required specifications.

     In recent years, in the medical field, biological information continuously collected in daily life has become increasingly important in addition to the precise tests performed in hospitals in order to make more accurate diagnoses. The daily management of biological information is also important from the perspective of preventing lifestyle-related diseases and diseases caused by social pressures. However, previous biomonitoring has raised concerns that sensors can fall off when the human body moves, damaging the delicate skin of infants and the elderly. In addition, inaccurate measurement data due to body movement and external interference noise is also a problem. When TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer), widely known as a stretchable substrate, is used in high humidity environments, there is a risk of inadequate insulation and ion migration .

 

     Therefore, Murata has developed this product by optimizing materials, design and process technology so that its electrodes and wiring do not lose conductivity even when bent and stretched. This is a soft and extensible circuit board, so even when installed on the moving part, it can follow the movement of the body and maintain a tight fit, making it more comfortable to wear.

 

     In addition, by placing the op amp near the electrode and forming a shielding layer with a multilayer structure, the signal interference caused by the noise caused by bending and stretching and the mixing of external interference noise can be suppressed. In addition, Murata has taken steps to prevent the problem of insufficient insulation between wiring when using TPU boards by using substrates that guarantee high insulation even at high humidity. Therefore, it is possible to keep the circuit working while maintaining functionality and safety.
