Murata has developed the "LXLC21 Series", the industry's first de-parasitized inductor noise reduction element that uses negative mutual induction to suppress power supply noise in the harmonic range from several MHz to 1GHz. Simply connect one capacitor of this product to the power supply circuit to eliminate the ESL of the capacitor connected to this product and improve the noise cancellation performance of the capacitor.

Noise can thus be suppressed with a smaller number of capacitors than before, helping to achieve miniaturization and high functionality of electronic devices.

In recent years, with the miniaturization and high functionalization of electronic devices, the density of circuit board circuits and the number of ics used are also increasing. However, the resulting switching power supply noise generated by the IC propagates through cables and board wiring, or is emitted into the air as unnecessary electromagnetic waves, which can cause misoperation or functional degradation of surrounding electronic devices. In order to achieve a safe, secure and comfortable environment for the use of electronic equipment, it is necessary to take noise countermeasures for switching power supplies.

A common power supply noise countermeasure is to configure capacitors between the propagation path of the power supply noise - the power line and GND, thereby releasing the noise to GND. The noise cancellation performance of the countermeasure method increases with the decrease of the impedance of the capacitor used. However, in the harmonic region, there is a parasitic component (known as ESL) inside the capacitor that works as an inductor, which causes an increase in impedance and therefore reduces noise cancellation performance. Therefore, in the equipment requiring high reliability, in order to improve the noise cancellation effect in the harmonic region, the impedance is reduced by connecting multiple capacitors in parallel. However, this requires providing space to connect multiple capacitors in parallel, which hinders further miniaturization of electronic devices.

To this end, Murata has developed a power supply noise suppression element that cancles the parasitic inductance inside the capacitor with the parasitic inductance generated in the circuit board through its unique component design technology and ceramic multilayer technology, using the industry's first negative mutual inductance product. By connecting 1 piece of this product, noise is reduced with a smaller number of capacitors, helping to save overall space.
