Murata introduces 600WDOSA standard digital DC-DC converter

     Murata Productions has introduced Murata Power Solutions' 600W, DOSA-compatible, 12V output, digital quarter-brick DC-DC converter family. The series is designed for high-reliability applications based on 32-bit ARM processors that support the latest PMBus commands for digital control and telemetry functions. DSQ, DCQ, and DAQ converters support the full "TNV" input range of 36-75V with a typical efficiency of 96% @ full load 48Vin.

     The series is designed to support droop mode current sharing across multiple modules, increasing power output through tight load distribution. I/O isolation at 2250 VDC, functional insulation system and UL/CSA safety agency certification. Options for these modules include digital interfaces that support the latest PMBus command set, parallel load sharing, positive or negative on/off logic, and options for standard "analog" DOSA pin arrangements and 5pin bus converter pin arrangements. Examples of applications include telecommunications network equipment, computing equipment, wireless base stations, PoE systems, MicroTCA, fan brackets, and test equipment.

     The DSQ model includes a PMBus interface that provides a device (I2C bus) for configuring output voltage, soft start parameters, input and output overvoltage protection limits, input undervoltage lock, current limit and thermal shutdown. Telemetry features include output voltage and current, input voltage and temperature, and indications of "power normal" and on/off status. At the heart of the module is a 32-bit processor that controls all functions and parameters. To support PMBus, Murata Power Solutions offers an optional evaluation board supported by downloadable software and a user-friendly GUI. Evaluation boards and GUI manuals are available upon request.

     DSQ modules are designed, tested and certified according to industry standard IPC9592 to meet reliability requirements. Electrical performance is state of the art with 96% efficiency, 600W output power, 55°C temperature, no heat fin, output with pre-bias protection in all conditions, strict line and load regulation, low output ripple and noise and fast load transient response, all packaged in the industry standard DOSA quarter brick format. All models include a baseplate for optimal thermal performance, as well as additional radiator mounting surfaces for extreme temperature applications. Safety certifications include UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No 60950-1 2 2nd edition and said parts comply with EN55022 / CISPR22 EMC standards with minimal input filtering.
