Murata introduces metal terminal MLCC for wireless power transmission equipment

Murata has commercialized the KCM series of multi-layer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals for automotive applications and the KRM series of multi-layer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals for general applications with temperature compensation C0G characteristics. Our main goal is to use it in places such as LC resonant circuits for wireless power transmission (WPT*1) systems for electric vehicles and industrial equipment.

     Murata has commercialized the KCM series of multi-layer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals for automotive applications and the KRM series of multi-layer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals for general applications with temperature compensation C0G characteristics. Our main goal is to use it in places such as LC resonant circuits for wireless power transmission (WPT*1) systems for electric vehicles and industrial equipment.

 

     Wireless power transmission (WPT) technology has also been developed and implemented in fields such as electric vehicles and industrial automatic handling machines. In these areas, people are concerned about the use of magnetic resonance wireless power supply, because its transmission efficiency is not easy to decrease with the longer the distance.

 

     In the magnetic resonance mode, capacitors are inserted on the power supply side and the power receiving side respectively to form an LC resonant circuit. Because the resonant capacitor is applied from a few kilowatts to more than ten kilowatts of high power, it must have low loss and low heating characteristics, and the change of electrostatic capacity with temperature and voltage must be small.

 

     The metal terminal type multi-layer ceramic capacitor with C0G characteristics developed in this paper uses a ceramic material, which has low loss characteristics, and the capacitance changes little with the application of temperature or voltage, and the metal terminal also uses low loss materials, which is most suitable for resonant capacitors.
