Nordic Semiconductor has announced the launch of its first power Management IC (PMIC) product, "nPM1100".      Nordic Semiconductor announced the launch of the first power management IC (PMIC) product "NPM1100". NPM1100 combines a USB compatible voltage regulator with overvoltage protection in the 2.075 x 2.075mm wafer -class chip scale packaging (WLCSP); 400MA battery charger and 150mA DC/DC antihypertensive regulator. This PMIC can ensure the reliable power supply and stable operation of Nordic's NRF52 and NRF53 series of multi -protocol system -level chips (SOC), and maximize the service life of the application battery. This product can also be used as a general PMIC and is used to apply the application of a Lithium ION or Lithium Polymer battery. NPM1100 has extremely compact shape size, which is very suitable for advanced wearable equipment, connected medical equipment, and other limited space applications.


     Designed and designed with NRF52 and NRF53 series SOCs and uses low-power Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth Le)) applications using rechargeable LI-ION/LI-PO batteries. Stabilizer level.      NPM1100 has 700NA (typical value) ultra -low static current (IQ), and can be further reduced to 470NA under the "Ship Mode". In addition, the transportation mode will disable the output of the power supply, eliminating the external power switch, and ensuring that the effect of the battery life on the product during transportation is minimized. This power management solution only occupies a PCB area as small as 23 MM2, including the passive component (increased to 27mm2 when optimizing performance), far less than similar competitive products.

 

     NPM1100 input regulator input from 4.1 to 6.6V USB or input power supply from 2.3 to 4.35V. It provides the application with a maximum 500mA output current with an unsettling voltage of 3.0 to 5.5V. PMIC supports USB standard downlink port (SDP), downlink charging port (CDP) and special charger port (DCP) detection. The input regulator includes an overvoltage protection function, which provides a high 20V transient voltage peak protection.

 

     NPM1100 PMIC's Jeita and capacitive battery charger can select 20 to 400mA charging current and can choose 4.1 or 4.2V to terminate the voltage, which can be charged for the application Li-ION/Li-PO battery. The charger has a battery overheating protection function and can automatically select from three charging modes: automatic trickle, constant current and constant voltage mode. This charger also has a discharge current limit function.

 

     The high -efficiency DC/DC pressure pressure regulator of NPM1100 runs more than 90%efficiency, and the load current is lower than 100µA. It obtains the power supply from the input system stabilizer and provides up to 150mA current under the optional 1.8V, 2.0V, 2.7V, or 3.0V stable output voltage. The stabilizer has a soft startup function and can be automatically converted between the magnetic stagnation and pulse width modulation (PWM) mode. It also supports the forced PWM mode to ensure that the power supply is as clean as possible.

 

     NPM1100 can operate without configuration software because all settings can be configured by pins. This PMIC is compatible with all the devices that work in the output voltage and power current range that the chip can provide in the chip. Its operating temperature range is -40 to 85˚C.
