NXP SAF9xxx Audio DSP improves AI audio processing

     NXP Semiconductors announced the SAF9xxx series, which brings a number of artificial intelligence audio capabilities to in-vehicle infotainment systems and represents an important technological advancement in automotive audio processing. The newly launched audio digital signal processing (DSP) solution is designed to meet the growing demand for AI audio capabilities in software-defined vehicles (SDVS). SAF9xxx leverages Cadence's new generation of high-performance Tensilica HiFi 5 DSP, combined with a dedicated neural network engine, to efficiently implement the next generation of high-quality self-learning audio and voice applications.

     In addition, the SAF9xxx series can integrate up to five tuners through software definition, covering the world's leading radio applications such as DAB, HD-Radio, DRM, CDR and AM/FM. Audio and radio applications for automotive entertainment systems can be done on this single chip and are easy to expand.

     Audio performance is a key differentiator for in-vehicle infotainment systems and opens up new opportunities for Oems to differentiate mid-range and high-end vehicles. The SAF9xxx's machine learning capabilities integrated with neural networks open up entirely new areas of functionality, such as the ability to identify and differentiate between drivers and passengers by tone and accent. Machine learning algorithms can detect emergency vehicle alarms, analyze the vehicle's position and dynamic condition, and provide relevant audiovisual information to the driver.
