NXP Semiconductor announces new in-car networking chipsets that offer new services

NXP Semiconductors today announced the release of an in-vehicle network processing chipset that can be used as a high-performance service-oriented gateway to unlock the value of connected vehicle data and offer new services.

The MSC-LS chipset solution combines NXP Semiconductor's MPC5748G automotive microcontroller and LS1043A enterprise network communications processor to provide the high performance and networking capabilities required for a service-oriented gateway. In terms of development, evaluation and demonstration, the chipset solution is supported by the evaluation board (evaluation module), application software and ecosystem.

To take advantage of the new opportunities, it is imperative that the data collected by vehicles be processed by centrally located service-oriented gateways, which requires in-vehicle network processing solutions that meet today's market demands.
Its core functions include:

● High-performance quad-core 64-bit Arm® processor for service and edge analysis;
● 1 10GB and 5 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, which can provide high bandwidth networking;
● Ethernet packet acceleration offloads processor, can provide valuable services;
● Real-time processing of on-board data from CAN FD, LIN and FlexRay networks;
● trusted boot hardware security, encryptor security key management;

Connected vehicles generate up to terabytes of data per day about sensors, car usage, and driver and passenger behavior. This service-oriented gateway converts raw data into actionable information and sends it to the cloud for subsequent analysis and storage, improving network performance, saving wireless network bandwidth, and reducing usage costs.
