NXP announces the S32J Series of secure Ethernet switches to support scalable automotive networks

     NXP Semiconductors introduces the new S32J series of high-performance Ethernet switches and network controllers. The S32J series features a switch core common to NXP's new S32 microcontroller and processor, NXP NETC, which operates as an extended virtual switch. The universal network switch core simplifies the integration and software reuse of the S32J series with other solutions on the recently launched NXP CoreRide platform, while providing automakers with a more efficient and reconfigurable network option.

     The S32J offers 80Gbps bandwidth, ports ranging from 10Mb to 10Gb, and a powerful Arm® Cortex-R52 dual-core to meet the diverse needs of next-generation automotive architectures. The S32J meets TSN automotive standards and offers powerful ASIL-D Class functional safety, Hardware Cybersecurity Engine (HSE) and MACsec ports for mixed critical data traffic applications.

     Combining the S32J series with NXP's CoreRide platform allows you to build production-grade networking solutions with pre-integrated software and tools. The solution includes a complete software support suite for HSE and MACsec, TSN stack, and remote configuration and monitoring capabilities. The virtual development kit for the S32J series will be available by the end of 2024. The solution will be available to automakers and Tier 1 suppliers in 2025.
