NXP Semiconductors announced a new portfolio of products to help simplify the development of solutions for the Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet of Things. NXP continues to expand its portfolio of end-to-end Matter solutions, with the RW612 and K32W148 combining advanced edge processing capabilities and built-in security to simplify the development process and design of Mature-enabled smart home devices while reducing costs.
The Matter standard was developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) to simplify the interoperability of devices in the smart home. The alliance is made up of industry leaders including NXP. The goal of Matter is to enable seamless, secure and reliable communication between devices from different brands and different ecosystems, freeing consumers from the constraints of the ecosystem. With this innovative move, consumers can choose a device based on desired features, rather than complex or confusing connectivity requirements. The NXP K32W148 supports Matter and other protocols, while the RW612's three-frequency radio capability allows developers to easily integrate Matter functionality into smart home devices.
The RW612 is NXP's first three-frequency radio MCU that supports multiple protocols such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 and 802.15.4 simultaneously, capable of supporting Thread or Zigbee, for smart home devices, Such as temperature controllers, garage door openers, door locks, IP cameras, robot vacuum cleaners, and smart home appliance applications.
K32W148 Wireless MCU provides multi-protocol support across Thread, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 and Zigbee for devices such as smart sockets, smart lighting, low power smart devices and sensors. You can also easily add Thread and Zigbee support to home routers, hubs, and Bridges. The multi-protocol support capability reduces costs and simplifies antenna design (requiring only a single antenna).
"The next generation of consumer and industrial devices need to combine advanced MCUS with secure connectivity across important protocols such as Thread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Matter," said Larry Olivas, vice president and general manager of Wireless Connectivity solutions at NXP Semiconductors. NXP's combination of advanced edge processing capabilities, a leading three-frequency radio portfolio, and advanced security simplifies the design process and reduces the complexity of supporting Matter, helping smart device vendors bring innovative next-generation products to market faster."
