NXP Semiconductor announced the launch of two new processor series, which continue to expand the advantages of NXP S32 innovative automobile platform by using safe high-performance real-time processing capabilities. The S32Z and S32E processor series help the automotive industry accelerate the integration of multiple real-time applications, and achieve domain control, regional control, security processing and electrification. These functions are critical to building the next generation of safe and efficient vehicles. S32Z processor is suitable for security processing, domain control and regional control, while S32E processor is suitable for electric vehicle (xEV) control and intelligent drive. The S32Z and S32E processor software are compatible, which helps to define the car by software, reduce the complexity of software integration, and enhance security.
All major automobile manufacturers attach importance to the evolution trend of the automobile industry towards domain architecture and regional architecture. The functions of NXP S32Z and S32E processors are more comprehensive than those of existing automobile microcontrollers. The new processor family has eight Arms with lockable step support Cortex - The R52 processor core, with a working frequency up to 1 GHz, can meet the challenges of safe integration, deterministic and high-performance real-time applications. Through the "core to pin" hardware virtualization and resource firewall, the processor isolates independent real-time applications to ensure that they are free from interference. The processor provides up to 64 MB of integrated Flash memory for large-scale wireless remote (OTA) upgrades with zero downtime, and for large applications and AUTOSAR ® Adaptive application, supporting LPDDR4 DRAM and Flash expansion memory in local execution (Xip) mode. The communication accelerator (FlexLLCE) supporting 24 CAN interfaces and the gigabit Ethernet switch supporting Time Sensitive Network (TSN) seamlessly provide vehicle data for the "virtual ECU", thus improving efficiency and simplifying software development. The hardware security engine (HSE) supports safe startup, accelerated security services and key management. S32Z and S32E processors have passed ISO/SAE 21434 network security certification and ISO 26262 ASIL D functional security certification.
S32E processor has added intelligent drive function, and adopts advanced timer, high-resolution analog-to-digital converter, 5V analog and I/O forms, which is suitable for xEV integrated application with direct drive motor control. With the wide use and advantages of S32Z and S32E processors, the world's leading OEMs and tier one suppliers can develop new automotive architectures with different real-time processing performance requirements.
