NXP launches 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth solution to revolutionize gaming, audio, industrial and iot markets

NXP Semiconductors announced the launch of the 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) dual-band + Bluetooth /BLE solution family, opening a new chapter in connectivity innovation for advanced gaming, audio, industrial and iot markets. The NXP IW62X product family, optimized to power the world's first Wi-Fi 6-enabled gaming console, will deliver greater capacity, efficiency and performance for next-generation connectivity solutions. These include smart consumer iot hubs, wireless speakers, video-enabled smart devices, augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) devices, and numerous other iot applications.

By supporting new gaming solutions on the market, NXP's wireless connectivity portfolio is uniquely innovative and integrated. The new 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 solution is ideal for advanced consoles that require high performance Wi-Fi over a wireless network, near-zero wireless controller latency and a low latency multiplayer gaming experience via a single indoor console. By providing the high bandwidth and low latency connectivity required for full 4k/60 fps gaming, the IW62X solution also provides real-time interaction for cloud-based gaming devices, clients and services.

Compared to previous generations of Wi-Fi, NXP's 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 dual-band + Bluetooth solution family offers a significant speed boost, increasing network capacity by four times and bandwidth by two times. Greater capacity and lower latency enable more users and devices to connect to the network or gateway.

Extend functionality with NXP's Wi-Fi 6 + BT/BLE and Wi-Fi 6 + BT/ Ble-Audio

The BT/BLE radio supports Bluetooth /BLE standards (BLE LR/2Mbps, BLE AoA/AoD, BLE Mesh), independent Bluetooth connectivity with multiple external devices, and mode of operation. With these capabilities, advanced smart centers and smart home services using Bluetooth-based positioning and Mesh connectivity become a reality, supporting a wide range of applications, including:

● Dual/independent wireless headset support.

● Reliable audio streaming support (via stereo A2DP, sync channel).

● Individual low-power peripherals/accessory controls, including speakers, voice assistants, audio center/bar speakers, physical remote controls, and low-power device wake-up.

High integration in the industry

The IW62X series offers high integration, including 2.4 and 5 GHz dual-band power amplifier (PAs), Low noise amplifier (LNAs) antenna switches. In addition, the series includes a power management unit, which significantly reduces the system-level BOM (Bill of Materials) and device board area, while also simplifying on-board chip and integrated module design.
